YSEALI Academic Fellows Program 2027

Introduction

The YSEALI Academic Fellows Program (YSEALI AFP), sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and administered by the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Center at the University of Montana, provides a fully funded academic exchange opportunity in the U.S. for young people from Southeast Asia.

Eligibility

• Citizens and permanent residents of Vietnam aged 18 to 25 at the time of application deadline.
• Undergraduate students (full-time or part-time) or recent graduates who have completed their university degree within the past 4 years.
• Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Eligible to receive a U.S. J-1 visa.

Benefits

• Participate in an academic exchange program lasting approximately 5 weeks at a U.S. college or university.
• Gain practical experience in specialized topics including: Economic Prosperity, Civic Engagement, Environmental Issues, and Peace and Security.
• All program costs are fully covered.

Requirements

• Demonstrate interest, knowledge, or professional experience related to the program themes.
• Exhibit leadership potential and a commitment to community engagement after completing the program.
• Have little to no prior experience studying or traveling in the United States.
